Cavitt Creek Bridge

Built 1943Howe Truss70 ft spanNRHP #03001058

Cavitt Creek Bridge is a 70-foot Howe truss covered bridge spanning the Little River near Glide in Douglas County, Oregon. Built in 1943, it serves Little River Road in the forested hill country of the North Umpqua drainage, near the community of Glide.

The bridge is set in a lush canyon environment typical of the North Umpqua watershed, where dense Douglas fir and white oak forest lines the creek banks. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

Cavitt Creek Bridge was constructed in 1943 during World War II, one of the last covered bridges built in Douglas County before timber bridge construction gave way entirely to modern materials. It served the farms and timber operations in the Cavitt Creek valley east of Glide.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003, the bridge is part of a small cluster of surviving covered bridges in Douglas County that document the county's covered bridge heritage.
