Belknap Bridge is a 120-foot Howe truss covered bridge spanning the McKenzie River near McKenzie Bridge in Lane County, Oregon. Built in 1966, it is the fourth bridge at this site and stands near the famous Belknap Hot Springs Resort in the upper McKenzie valley, one of the most scenic river corridors in the state.
The bridge carries Belknap Springs Road across the McKenzie and serves both local residents and visitors to the resort and the surrounding Willamette National Forest recreation area. Its setting among old-growth Douglas fir and the clear green waters of the upper McKenzie gives it one of the most dramatic backdrops of any covered bridge in Oregon.
Belknap Bridge was constructed in 1966 — the fourth bridge at this site — adjacent to Belknap Hot Springs, a resort established in the 1870s that has drawn visitors to the upper McKenzie valley for generations. The springs, discovered by R.S. Belknap in 1869, became a destination for travelers seeking the therapeutic waters of this volcanic region.
The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. The upper McKenzie valley's combination of natural beauty, the resort, and the covered bridge has made this stretch of river one of the most visited areas of Lane County.
